Richfield Agrifarms Inc. (RAI) is a company born from and built upon the vision of its founders to transform an expanse of land idled by the ashes and lahar from Mt. Pinatubo into a productive fruit farm area growing good, rare and quality varieties of fruits and crops.
Established in 2010 in Mabalacat, Pampanga, Central Luzon, Philippines, RAI started out with farming a 12-hectare area with the exotic dragon fruit, with the seeds and cultivation techniques obtained from Taiwan, the product of an extensive and still continuing research and development program. This high quality dragon fruit, especially of the red variety, is grown through a complicated, painstaking and scientific method, for which a global patent registration was obtained.
The RAI farm can produce at least 150,000 kilos of dragon fruit per year but as the plants mature, the harvest volume will compound. The Company is likewise expanding its product range to include more high-value, better quality and unique crop varieties. In the long-term, RAI plans to export its products initially targeting the neighboring Asian countries and to horizontally integrate its operations by preserving them through canning, bottling or other means and processing the fresh produce into juices, purees, concentrates, pickles or wines.
In 2014, RAI proved comprehensive commitment to its employees’ welfare thus receiving certification for compliance on General Labor Standards and Occupational Safety and Health Standards. In the same year, RAI received certification for Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) enhancing its ability to communicate its products transparently and credibly to the public.
